Maccabi Toronto Games | August 2-7, 2026
For the first time in 40 years, the JCC Maccabi Games® & Access are coming to Toronto.
Proudly hosted by Prosserman JCC and the Schwartz/Reisman Centre.
The JCC Maccabi Games® & Access are marking a powerful homecoming for the world’s premier Jewish youth sports event. This Olympic-style competition for Jewish teens aged 13-17 will be welcomed by the local GTA communities. Maccabi Access is a meaningful, inclusive experience designed for athletes ages 13–23 with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The Toronto Games are actually being hosted by the City of Vaughan, with 10 sports competitions taking place at venues in Vaughan, Markham, and Richmond Hill in York Region. Vaughan is home to one of the largest Jewish diaspora communities in Canada. The OSTA head office is located locally, and is proud to serve as a Community Partner responsible for recruiting, coordinating, and providing head therapist roles over the August 2-7, 2026 JCC Maccabi Games® Toronto 2026 schedule. The OSTA was pleased to sponsor a speaker at the WFATT Tel Aviv conference in 2023. Longtime OSTA member Jonathan Maister led several OSTA-sponsored workshops. Jonathan has participated in the Maccabi Major Games in the past.
History of Maccabi Games
The Maccabiah Games, often called the "Jewish Olympics," began in 1932 in Tel Aviv, Palestine, envisioned by Yosef Yekutieli to empower Jewish athletes barred from mainstream sports. Held every four years, it is the world's largest Jewish athletic competition, featuring thousands of athletes from over 60 countries, and is now the third-largest international sporting event globally. Besides the Maccabiah in Israel, there are European Maccabi Games and regional Maccabi Games, such as the upcoming 2026 Possner Maccabi Toronto regional sports event.

Application Process

Ontario Application Portal: Applicants must use the online OSTA Application Portal to apply, which is often released to specific allied associations.

Expert Group Membership: Applicants must be qualified health professionals and members of an associated sport therapy group, such as Ontario Athletic Therapists, co-qualified as Ontario Sport Massage Therapists.

Selection Process: Applications are reviewed by the OSTA Application Review Committee. Selection is based on eligibility, skills, and experience.

Key Requirements for Applicants

Credentialing: Must be recognized as in Good Standing as an OSTA Registered Ontario Athletic Therapist. Additional recognition as an R.Kin. Athletic Therapist, or as an AT with credentials such as RMT with an advanced sport massage qualification, is considered a bonus.

Experience: Experience with Local Sports Clubs, Provincial Sports Organizations (PSO), or relevant sports teams and leagues is required.

Certifications: First Responder certification is necessary.

Safe Sport: Must have a Safe Sport Certificate and a current Vulnerable Sector Check.

Availability: Willingness to dedicate necessary time to meet the needs of the participating athletes and the Games.

Language Proficiencies: Indicate languages spoken beyond English
