The Ontario Athletic Therapists Association (OATA) is an independently incorporated organization compliant with the Ontario Not-for-Profit Corporations Act, 2010 (ONCA) and as a non-share capital corporation under the Ontario Corporations Act (1990). The OATA takes sound governance practices seriously to ensure it can serve as good stewards to and for its membership.

 

In Canada, Athletic Therapists first join the provincial/regional AT organization and then join the CATA nationally.  Both memberships are required. There are only Active and Inactive membership levels for either Certified Members or Student/Candidate Members. There are fewer than 10 Emeritus Members, a category achieved through application for seasoned ATs retiring from the profession.
